Westward Ho History?

Posted by Hunter

Admittedly not a property that shows up on the blog too often... We are hearing from all over that the Ho is closing down in November.

I guess the lot has been sold... So, keep your eyes open for more info on this. We'll post this as we have it.

The place will be closed 11/17.I will be in Vegas from 11/20.I've never set my foot in there and I feel of that,I'm a downtown guy and i like places who are old, little dirty and smelly.

Dropped a buck in a video poker machine while the wife was getting one of those 2 foot tall daiquiris for $2 bucks and hit 4 aces. Best daiquiri I ever tasted.

I love the cheesy old places too.

Bummer.

when i was 26 yewars old i met my birth father at the westward ho. he was dieing of a brain tumor and rode in a back of a medi van from los ang to come see me for the first time, in nov of 2000 i have not been able to visit that place since his passing in april 2001. so many memories will be erased. how sad it is. i wish vegas would keep some of its culture. how are vegas residents supposed to put roots down and feel at home when all of the favorites and old hang out are blown up or torn down?????

We love the Ho--and have been going there nearly every year for 15 years. We'll miss it so much--they knew how to make you feel at home. You can have the mega-casinos!

Anyone know what is happening to guests of the Westward Ho who have reservations in January after the Ho closes? This is my situation and the Ho has not made any information available nor have they contacted me to tell me they will no longer be in business!

My wife worked at the HO from 1998 until we have to move back to kentucky. The memories and the people are and will be greatly missed!! A wonder part of our lives.

God bless everyone there!!!

OOh no!!!. i heard about it on saturday. My friend works at the Wynn, and told me that The ho has been torn down. Ive stayed there for years, no matter what the occasion. The Ho has always been my place of residence in Vegas. At least i have my yard glass. That place will be missed.

All comments were awesome, For the guy whos dad was dieing with brain cancer, please email me.

The Ho, advertised, all out in Houston, for Junkets, etc... giving away trips etc. as well as Stupaks Vegas World. Its amazing, the city is losing its history. LOVE THE DUNES! it was a classic. now its the Riviera or Sahara.
