Beau Rivage Will Take A Year To Repair

Posted by Hunter

MGM MIRAGE's Terri Lani says that it will take about a year to repair Beau Rivage in Biloxi, ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The casino will be rebuilt as it was, as a barge floating on water.

Associated Press released a story October 7 on Beau Rivage. It probably won't look like a Steve Wynn creation after MGM Mirage rebuilds.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right.

Sad.

I wanted to visit the Beau but if it loses it's Steveness, I'm much less interested.

I have stayed at the Beau close to 30 times and am so sad to hear about the interior damage. I saw exterior pictures and thought all was ok. Can anyone lead me to a site that has interior picture damage? It is such a great place to stay and the people are terrific there. I hope and pray for all of them.

I drove through Biloxi a week ago and stopped to see the reconstruction progress. Beau Rivage looked relatively unscathed, but the Gulf side of the property, including the casino, was not visible. BR was swarming with construction workers.

Once I entered Alabama, driving west on I-10, I saw several series of multiple billboards from MGM Mirage. They were all on a plain blue background and contained the thought that MGM and the Gulf Coast were all family, were in this together and that together, they would rebuild Biloxi and Beau Rivage better than ever.

Some photos of Biloxi are at:

There is also a ten minute video of Hurricane Katrina which was taken from within Beau Rivage's parking structure. I had seen the video before my trip, but now I realize that much of what I originally thought was the Gulf, was, in reality, streets on BR's land side.
