Shadow Creek, MGM Mirage's fabulous golf course located in North Las Vegas, will close for a few months for an extensive renovation.

The press release is after the jump but basically it says that it will close until December while original architect Tom Fazio looks over the changes.

Shadow Creek, one of the country's most exclusive golf courses, will close temporarily for course enhancements effective Monday, May 19. The course, perennially ranked among Golf Digest's top 10 courses in the country, is scheduled to re-open in December 2008. The enhancement project will be overseen by original course architect Tom Fazio.

The primary goal of the closure is to rebuild and reseed the tee boxes and greens, upgrade the course's irrigation system and build a world-class, short-game area. The short-game facility, intended to reflect the diverse and intriguing shot values evident throughout the course, will feature multiple greens for guests to pitch and putt as well as practice bunker shots.

Located in the midst of the barren Nevada desert on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Shadow Creek has achieved national recognition and the kind of startling mystique reserved for only a select number of golf courses. The course is known for its natural beauty, rolling terrain, glistening brooks and ponds, lush gardens and mature trees. The visual elements, spectacular waterfalls and course design lend to astonishing views.

Guests of MGM MIRAGE properties can reserve tee times at either of the two Primm Valley Golf Club courses (Lakes or Desert). The Lakes and Desert Courses annually rank in Golf Magazine's top 100 public course listing.

Beginning in October, Shadow Creek will begin accepting tee times in anticipation of the December reopening.
