Planning Meeting Agendas: Hard Rock, Caesars

Posted by detroit1051

Expansions at Hard Rock and Caesars Palace are on the agendas for next week's Planning Meetings.
Hard Rock: The plans indicate that the proposed expansion involves the
construction of 6 new high-rise towers to accommodate the additional
2,671 hotel rooms, with 4 of the towers located on the northwest side
of the site.

Caesars: This is a request to modify the height of a previously approved high-
rise tower in conjunction with a resort hotel (Caesars Palace). The
tower was originally approved at a height of 295 feet with 1,017
guestrooms with a Tuscan villa design. The new elevations depict a
350 foot high tower with a design that is similar to the existing
Augustus Tower located just east of the proposed towers site.

As far as Caesars goes, if the "new" tower has the same footprint and number of rooms as the "old" one, are they just making the suites bigger, or are they going to be including more shopping, spa, or restaurant space in the tower? Anyone care to speculate?

And the Hard Rock plans sound pretty grandiose--I'm sure it'll do wonders for the traffic around Harmon and Swenson.

I don't understand what "east" means for Caesars. I thought they were building on the west side towards the freeway.

Maybe they decided they want the new Tower exactly on the corner, where the outdoor plaza is, with shops etc... underneath.

This is a quote from the page describing the location of the tower, which will be immediately west of the Augustus Tower.

Caesars plaza at the corner of Flamingo and the Strip is a concrete jungle. The new tower will be an improvement. If it's like the Augustus Tower, the rooms will have a better view of Bellagio's fountains than from Bellagio itself.

The photo I just linked, and the other 32 in the album, were taken exactly one year ago. In looking at them again, it's amazing to see the progress on Encore, and Palazzo. Wynn was just starting to push dirt around on the Encore site. I see the Aladdin/PH still had the ugly blue paint.

They really need to do away with that "roman plaza" at the corner of ceasars. I think Caesars said it is supposed to be like the piazza di spangna in rome. That is just absurd. Some parts of caesars are nice but a lot of it is tacky and other areas seem old and worn out.
