Fontainebleau Moving Forward

The Fontainebleau, which is planned for the old El Rancho site, is almost a done deal. The LV Business Press has an item which includes a link to the Clark County Comprehensive Planning agenda. Fontainebleau will be presented to the Commission on September 6. Glenn Schaefer is the CEO of Fontainebleau Resorts.

This is another step in the strenghtening of the North Strip.

I am glad, but surprised. Until we see cranes go up, it's still not a done deal. I would love to see the north end of the strip, full and crowded and filled with beautiful properties, one after another. Encore, Montreaux, Echelon Place, This, I can't wait to see the strip in 10 years, I think it might look VERY different!

Nice to see the north end finally starting to be developed. How's this going to affect existing properties like Circus-Circus, Sahara, Strato? If the north end goes upscale, can these mid market resorts survive?

I don't see CC being in the same state it is now in 10 years. I can see them keeping the dome, but leveling the rest, and why they may keep it a lower priced property, and affordable for families, it's time for it to go. You can still have a nice hotel, yet make it reasonable. CC is a dump, and needs to move on! We'll see, but if the strip moves that way, like I think it will over the next decade, MGM will most definitly use that land for something more exciting!
